SHORT FILMS

Here, you can find a few of my most recent and most popular short films, all of which I have written, directed, shot, and edited. The rest of my completed films can be found on my YouTube channel, which is linked

"THE END" (2018)

I wrote, directed, shot, and edited this film in the span of three days during my week at YoungArts LA. We were required to shoot everything on iPhone, which initially was difficult to come to terms with, but made for an interesting product.

"SIBLINGS" (2017)

Stylistically, I produced this short to combine elements of the traditional documentary and comedy. But, in simpler terms, this improvised skit came about from a day of boredom with my siblings.

"NATURE" (2017)

This comedic short film is a compilation of my brother Will's ramblings as he stares wistfully out the window overlooking our backyard. None of this was scripted. As per usual.

"THE TRAVELERS" (2017)

This post-apocalyptic short was shot in partnership with Moonlight Stage Production in Raleigh, North Carolina. It stars Emily Murden and David Skaggs.

"FIRST DATE" (2016)

One of my first ever true short films, this dark comedy is an exaggerated commentary starring Susanna Skaggs and Liz Uys, created in partnership with Moonlight Stage Company.

"YOU ARE THE COFFIN" (2016)

This is an experimental short inspired by Flatsound's song "You Are the Coffin". The film stars Madeline Jensen and Emily Murden.

MUSIC VIDEOS

These are a few official and unofficial music videos that I have directed, shot, and edited. All other music video pieces can be found on my YouTube channel, which is linked

"MOON MOON BABY" (2018)

In June, I directed and edited a music video for HOAX's single, "Moon Moon Baby". This was a dream project that would not have been made possible without the band's individual artistic brilliance or my two lovely assistant directors.

"HURTS ME TOO" (2018)

I directed a music video for Daniel DiVenere's newest single, "Hurts Me Too". This video was created in collaboration with Daniel and my brother, Will. In the very least, give the song a listen.

"SEVENTEEN" (2018)

I created this fun project set to Peach Pit's song "Seventeen" after capturing footage from a New Year's getaway with some of my best friends.

"15 YEAR OLD DEADBEAT" (2017)

This project came into being on a day when Will and I were feeling quite glum and quite bored. The short film and music video combination is inspired by and set to Skegss' song "Wake the Fuck Up".

"MORPHINE" (2017)

To be quite honest, I'm not exactly sure what this is. After my Dad brought home the unicorn mask, it was imperative that I create a video based around it, and did so to the song "Morphine" by The Ninjas.

"BIRTHDAY" (2017)

This music video is set to the song "Natalie Portman" by Ozma. The basis of this story was completely inspired by the beautifully tragic mood this song elicits. Also, the balloons looked cool. For no good reason,"Birthday" is personally one of my favorite works.

MADSWILL ON YOUTBUBE

My brother, Will, and I recently launched our new YouTube channel, which we named "MadsWill" after our virtual Webkinz user, originally created back in '09. The channel is devoted to vlogs that we collaboratively film and edit, and will feature our close friends and family. The vlogs are comedic documentations of any fun activities we do, trips we take, and projects we work on. Click left to watch the first official MadsWill vlog! Don't forget to like the video and subscribe to our channel.

ABOUT ME

Madeleine (Maddy) Murden is an nineteen-year-old filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. She has worked as a professional actress since the age of twelve, and can be seen in a number of films, including Ben Lewin's "Please Stand By" (2017) and Benjamin Steinberg's award-winning short film "Bear With Me" (2017). At a very young age, Maddy took an interest in creating films for the sheer enjoyment of it, constantly writing and shooting original works, many of which can be found on her YouTube channel. Maddy recently directed, shot, and edited a music video for HOAX’s hit single, “Moon Moon Baby” and Daniel DiVenere’s “Hurts Me Too”, both of which can be viewed on YouTube. She is a proud recipient of a 2018 National YoungArts Foundation award in Cinematic Arts for her short film, "Everything I Am". The film is now cycling through festivals, including the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival and the Clean Shorts Film Festival. Maddy also works as an Assistant Director on Hadley Dion and Marisol Diaz’s web series “I Would Have Kissed You”, a romantic comedy focused on modern female empowerment, with its first season scheduled to premiere later this year. Currently, Maddy has an original film titled “Pink Elephant” in development, which she plans to star in and direct alongside Madison De La Garza. Maddy loves collaborating on creative projects with her two siblings, Will and Emily Murden, both of whom can be seen in a number of Maddy's short films. Maddy is happiest when hanging out with Will, Emily, and her beloved cat, Oliver.
